The LRC at Universidad Privada Boliviana is part of the Blitzortung lightning detection network a collaborative, real-time monitoring system based on GPS synchronized sensors. Our station contributes to the global detection map, providing data for atmospheric and electromagnetic studies in Bolivia and Latin America.
Blitzortung.org is a project that uses a distributed network of low-cost sensors to detect lightning strikes worldwide. Each station measures electromagnetic signals produced by lightning and sends data to a central server for triangulation and real-time visualization.
By participating in this network, we contribute to the generation of high resolution lightning maps, which are valuable for atmospheric research, weather prediction, and radio wave propagation studies.
